With an honours degree in Law, Martin joined Haseltine Lake in 1989 as a trainee trade mark attorney, qualified in 1993 and was made a partner in the firm in 1996. He has wide UK and European experience across the whole field of trade mark law and practice, including internet and counterfeiting-related trade mark issues. He is a recognized expert in opposition, revocation and invalidity proceedings and has advised in major passing off and counterfeiting cases.

Martin's clients include industry leaders in sectors as diverse as electronics and communications, motor engineering, news publishing and retailing.

A German speaker, Martin is a member of Marques and the International Trademark Association (INTA), and sits on the INTA Publications Committee, having sat on the Programs Committee and the Community Trade Mark Rules and Practice Sub-Committee. In addition he is a member of The Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys (ITMA) and is an ITMA finals exam tutor. A frequent business traveller, Martin often visits Japan and the USA states of Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Washington.
