My Favourite Patent "As a passionate film fan, my favourite invention is the movie projector. Different versions of the projector were developed simultaneously at the end of the 1800s by Edison, the Lumiere brothers and others. The early devices, and their modern equivalents, rely on fooling the eye by rapidly changing an image to create an illusion of movement. As with all great inventions, the underlying concept was simple, but its potential was enormous, and led to cinema as we know it today. "
